I hit a giant pot hole on the Baltimore-Washington parkway.( I wasn’t the only one, misery loves company and all that). I’m pretty sure it dented my rim, I’m hoping it will either be fixable or, it may hold air if i can get it to a air pump. Thoughts Oppos?

I was just on the BW parkway, luckily I seemed to have escaped unscathed.

That wheel looks out of round, may still hold air though. It can probably be fixed, but I would guess you can find a replacement fairly cheap? Might be worth a look.

I don’t think its fixable. If it was one side I’d say maybe... but considering the wheel is bent on both sides, I’d say the entire wheel has been compressed into a very VERY faint oval. If the tire can conteract that is any guess. And considering its an alloy, bending it back may weaken the metal even more.

I presume you took the wheel off to inspect, and didn’t notice any driving changes/vibrations. I’d say out of caution to leave this off, because the vibrations may be not noticeable to you, but could still transmit into the suspension and put undue wear on your suspension components.

I’d sure as hell say don’t drive around on it on the front. No matter what you do, I think you should definitly take one of the rear wheels and put it on the front since your car is FWD. Put the spare/this wheel on the rear.

I would also recommend using this as an excuse to buy some aftermarket wheels haha. (In all seriousness, forged flow aftermarket wheels are lighter, stronger then most OEM, and dont cost a ton more. Albeit you’d be buying 4 instead of 1, but you know)

Just did a quick change on the parkway, ran into work; I’ll prob throw spare on rear after work, I’m gonna call ford and see if they can look at it and fix / replace it today

I don’t miss that area...the potholes were amazing. I’ve never seen concrete distingrate like that

I thought that area was bad, but then I moved to north NJ. Car-eating potholes are a way of life up here. The road I live off of is covered in a layer of lose asphalt because of all the potholes.

It is just dumb....it makes no sense why they use that terrible mix of concrete for that area. Germany is colder and their roads are like driving on glass.

Thoughts? Avoid the bw parkway?

Probably not helpful, sorry

97 to 3 to 50 adds 10 miles to the commute, and can be a disaster as well, it’s a no win game!

This. New Jersey is absolutely horrendous. The entrance to US1&9 in Kearney off of exit 15e (where you go left to 1&9 instead of going right to Doremus ave) is the worst stretch of road I’ve ever experienced.

you should see Industrial Highway just past exit 12. I’ve seen unmaintained dirt roads that were in better shape that that stretch of asphalt. Of course it doesn’t help that the repaved the less terrible stretch of that road and left the cratered section alone last year. It’s suppoused to be a 50 mph road, at this point I almost think they are using the potholes as speed control devices.

When I saw how tiny the sidewalls were on the 17s, I planned on getting 16s.

Still ended up bending a wheel w/ 205/45/16s

This is why 90's cars are the best. Because they actually have sidewalls.

LOL I agree on the pot holes. Haven’t been down that stretch. I’m usually in Edison, Newark and Trenton.

Edison’s not too terrible. There are a few by the mall that are suspension eaters, but they’re at pretty low-speed sections.

Yeah I don’t find Edison to be terrible. Parts of 287 can be rough though haha. I do despise Newark roads though. Doremus and those speed bumps in the actual road always blow my mind when I head to Salson logistics yard lol
